What is under a gravel driveway that lasts?
Structure, in layers, each one compacted. The visible gravel is the least important part. A build that survives Fraser Valley winters looks like this from the bottom up:
- Prepared subgrade. Topsoil and organics stripped, soft spots dug out and replaced, the surface shaped with a crown or cross-fall so water sheds instead of soaking.
